The pine cone grew and grew into a beautiful tree, but on Christmas eve they were saddened to realize they had no money to buy ornaments to decorate it with. But as the widow and her children slept some helpful spiders got to work. The widow and children awoke to find the most beautiful cobwebs covering their Christmas tree, and when the sunlight hit the webbing, it sparkled brilliant silver and gold. I love this story because it shows how when we take care of nature as the children cared for the tree, it in turn takes care of us.
